Mount Barker VFRS has two firefighting appliances (fire trucks) and a rescue/hazmat trailer.
Our biggest appliance is a 2000L, 4 wheel drive truck called an Urban Tanker, or UT for short. Its fleet ID is UT-12. Over the years the Brigade has used a number of appliances. They include:
- A Holden utility (appliance number 78) arrival date unknown.
- A Dodge (appliance number 19) which arrived on September 21, 1966.
- A Bedford (number 89) which arrived on March 5, 1968.
- Three Mazda Light Pumpers (LP-67, LP-65 and LP-100).
The UT was received on November 17, 2003.
Our other appliance is called a Light Tanker. It also is a 4 wheel drive vehicle and carries around 600L of water. Its fleet ID is LT-400. Previous Light Tankers in the Brigade included LT-60, LT-120, LT-243 and LT-400.
LT-400 was replaced by LT-556 on April 5, 2016.
LT-243 was replaced by LT-400 on October 30, 2008.
In order to acquire this Rescue Trailer the Brigade had to raise money from the community. It carries the “Jaws of Life” and other rescue equipment. Also on board the trailer is some equipment for dealing with hazardous materials. It has a fleet ID of RT-038.
