On Monday, November 23, 2009 Mount Barker VFRS were turned out to a reported motor vehicle accident with persons trapped.  The Urban Tanker, Light Tanker and Rescue Trailer were mobilised.  On scene they found a small four wheel drive on its side against a tree.  All trapped persons were out upon arrival and were being spoken to by the Cranbrook SJA volunteers.  Tambellup Volunteer Emergency Service was stood down and the scene was made safe.  Once Police were present MBVFRS returned to Station.

Mount Barker VFRS would like to remind people to drive safely on the road.  Changing weather conditions means you need to change how you drive.

Mount Barker VFRS answered a radio call from the Plantagenet Shire Chief Bushfire Control Officer in the afternoon of November 7.  It was a report of a scrub fire burning near the tip on O’Neill Road.  As there was a crew present doing a HAZMAT course, they were mobilised.  On arrival crews started to contain the fire.  Narrikup and Porongurup BFBs arrived shortly afterwards and took over the control of the incident.  Just as crews started arriving back on station another call, this time of a motor vehicle accident with persons trapped was received.  This was located near Nunijup Lake in the Cranbrook Shire.  At the time of writing the crews had yet to arrive or were on scene.

Mount Barker VFRS reminds members of the public when driving near the scene of a bush fire to turn their headlights on, drive cautiously and take the advice of emergency service personnel.

Mount Barker VFRS turned out to a reported explosion and fire on November 1. Crews were mobile at 2015 to investigate. The report ended up being a legal burn off of garden waste and we were back on station around 2045.

Residents of Mount Barker are reminded that permits are required to burn within the town boundary from November 15.
